5-Day Montessori Program

This program is available for any child between the ages of 2 ½ to 6 years and includes a variety of materials, which foster both educational and social development.

3-Day Montessori Program

This program is reserved for children between the ages of 2 ½ and 3 years. It is offered in order to introduce the extremely young child to the pleasures and routines of school. The same materials and philosophy are presented, but the children attend three consecutive days a week—usually Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, in order to provide continuity in the learning process. To be eligible for this program, your child must be 2 ½ years old by September 1, and cannot turn 3 until after September 30. In addition, state licensing requires these children be potty-trained and out of diapers.

Introduction/Description:

We provide a pure Montessori preschool environment for children ages 2 ½ through 6 years old. MCH also offers a kindergarten program which is recognized by the state of Ohio. Both half and full-day options are offered.

Montessori education is based on the scientific observations of Dr. Maria Montessori, the first female physician in Italy. Through her lifelong work with children, Dr. Montessori developed a unique method of education which recognizes the individual talents and interests of each child, while providing them with a peaceful, child-centered classroom in which to explore. This experience helps the children become self-motivated, independent learners.

Today, most educators and psychologists agree that the single most important period in the development of a person's intelligence is between birth and age five. A child's mind is extremely absorbent, and curiosity is at a peak during these early preschool years.

In the prepared Montessori preschool environment, children's minds form patterns for learning that serve as a foundation for continued education throughout their lives. Montessori children become enthusiastic, lifelong learners.

Our Staff

Childcare Philosophy:

At Montessori Children's House, we believe that all children carry unseen within them the person they will become. In order to develop their physical, intellectual, and social abilities to the fullest, they must have freedom—freedom to be achieved through order and self-discipline. As children grow and develop, they learn to create order from the sights and sounds around them, thereby gaining mastery of themselves and their environment. The order found within the Montessori classroom allows children to develop at their own pace, according to their own capacities, in a non-competitive atmosphere. The environment at Montessori Children's House helps the children gain an appreciation for their own unique talents and the beauty of the world around them. Montessori Children's House is committed to providing a loving, nurturing environment where children can tap their true potential to become independent, self-confident, life-long learners.
