Our daily schedule provides a balance or structure & freedom, quiet & active play, and teacher & child directed activities.

     Each classroom is arranged with specific learning centers: block center, dramatic play center, writing & art center, language & literacy center, science discovery center, and math / manipulatives center. Each area offers a different type of play but they all offer the children opportunities to learn and grow at their own speed in each developmental area (creatively, cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally).

     In our developmentally appropriate classrooms you will hear respectful interactions among children and teachers, see a print rich environment with open ended art projects displayed, and encounter many instances in which the teachers are guiding the children to practice their problem solving skills and encouraging exploration around the room.

     Our program uses and follows the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards when planning and implementing lesson plan activities. We offer a play based program because we believe that children learn best when playing and exploring. We use themes and projects to organize activities based on a child's interests and related to a child's experiences. Our curriculum begins with what is familiar to the child and builds on that knowledge to help each child see her self as part of a larger world. Each theme will include social studies (people & places), science (nature, animals, water, etc.), readiness activities for reading and writing, developmentally appropriate math and number activities. Art and music is also incorporated into the lessons. Each child's teacher provides parents with more detailed information about her goals for the children and planned activities in her monthly newsletters. Daily lesson plans are posted on the message boards outside the classrooms.

     The Church of the Redeemer United Methodist Preschool (C R U M P) is a ministry to children and their families. We accept each child as an individual, striving to help each one develop a positive self-image. We provide a caring and nurturing atmosphere where our Christian beliefs are expressed by example. Our program is designed to utilize positive current findings in early education.

     C.R.U.M.P has been awarded accreditation by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. This means that our program ranks among the top 5% of all preschools and day care centers throughout the nation. The Academy administers the only national, voluntary, professionally sponsored accreditation system for all types of schools and child care centers. The Academy is a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators.

     We are happy to announce that our preschool has been awarded two stars in the Step Up To Quality program. This award is given only to child care and preschools who exceed State of Ohio licensing rules and offer a high quality program for children. Only 29 schools out of the 475 centers in Franklin County have received this award.
