Special Study Programs:

Play is an integral part of our theme-based program. Our curriculum is child centered and developmentally appropriate. We emphasize hands-on, play based learning throughout our classrooms. Our monthly themes and weekly units are designed to include the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Our lesson plans are aligned with these standards. We adhere to the guidelines set forth by the state of Ohio. Our curriculum promotes the importance of the learning environment and encourages growth as children are free to explore a variety of creative experiences through art, science, dramatic play, and music. As they use their imagination, language skills are encouraged through play, stories, songs, finger plays, sharing and discussions. Reading readiness activities are part of our day—children develop pre-reading skills by rhyming, singing, reading stories, retelling stories, computers, as well as age appropriate activities. Small motor skills are strengthened by using art materials, puzzles, play dough, building blocks, and easel painting/drawing. Beginning math and science concepts are learned with block play, counting, calendar, and sorting. An outdoor play area with climbing equipment, riding toys, as well as, an indoor play (rumpus) room encourages large motor development.

Boulevard Presbyterian Church Preschool classrooms encourage children to play, learn and explore through a variety of activities.

In the classroom and on the playground, these concepts are integrated into all aspects of our daily schedule.

Childcare Philosophy:

Boulevard Presbyterian Church Preschool (BPCP) is a non-profit, interfaith, interracial program serving the children of the community. It is licensed by the State of Ohio, with a certified teacher directing each class. The BPCP program emphasizes the development of the total child, including the emotional, social, spiritual, physical, and intellectual growth of each preschooler. A rich environment is provided to stimulate the child’s curiosity, awareness, development of language, and encourage social interaction with other children and adults. Our traditional program guides children to be actively involved in their learning process through our theme-based curriculum.

The children are given independence within a structured environment to explore, create and interact with adults and children. Each child is provided with opportunities to make choices, problem solve and foster creativity. These opportunities develop a positive self-concept and attitude toward learning, self-control, and a sense of belonging.

BPCP staff have many years of experience working with groups of young children. Our qualified teachers participate in in-service training throughout the year, are certified in first aid, CPR, recognition of communicable diseases and knowledge of the signs of child abuse and neglect.

The early years in your child’s life are a precious time. We make sure your child is secure and loved in an environment full of opportunities. Each program strives to engage and stimulate the child’s mind.
