Agora’s Little Gems is owned and operated by Agora Christian Fellowship. Agora Christian Fellowship is a growing church just west of downtown Columbus, OH. The church has been working with children for 14 years and currently holds Kid’s Church services on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. In addition to church services, Agora Christian Fellowship offers tutoring and job training. From our experience we have observed that the younger we begin working with children, the greater the impact. With that in mind, Agora Christian Fellowship recognized a call to open a child care center in order to better serve our community and work closely with parents and children. Special Study Programs:

Infants (6 weeks-12 months)

This is a precious time in a child’s life. Each day will reveal another miracle: a smile, a new tooth, and rolling over are all exciting milestones in an infant’s life. Our infant care center is dedicated to helping these little gems reach important developmental milestones, building strong bonds, and learning through play. Below is a typical daily schedule for infants. However, we recognized that it is difficult to conform an infant’s varied needs to a set schedule. That is why your input as a parent is so important, especially at this stage. We will work with your expectations and your infants needs to provide and care for them in the best way.

Older Infants (12-18 months)

As your little one gains mobility, everything about their world begins to change. As they begin to walk, climb, and explore, their curiosity and knowledge of the world around them begins to grow. Even more exciting, their first words allow them to begin expressing their needs and wants. Our curriculum seeks to stimulate and nurture these young minds and bodies. Below you can view a typical daily schedule for this age group (although there is nothing typical about a day with these very active little gems!).

Toddlers (18-30 months & 30-36 months)

At this age, your toddler is active and curious. They run, dance, and talk and begin to experience the world around them in many new ways. Language and related milestones are an important aspect of development for these little gems and our curriculum seeks to develop these skills. In addition, our curriculum provides these young learners with plenty of active time and activities that encourage learning through play. Below is a sample daily schedule for our young toddlers.

3-4 Years

At this age, your child has begun acquiring more independence. They will learn letters, get their own markers, and do crafts on their own. Our curriculum helps these little gems gain independence through hands on activities and by acquiring valuable learning skills such as learning to concentrate and listen. At the same time, we recognize that this group needs their active play time. We make sure that the children have plenty of time to run and burn off all that energy! Below is a typical day in our three years old classroom.

4-5 Years

For these little gems, Kindergarten is just around the corner. Our curriculum has been preparing children for this transition all along. In this year, your child will learn to identify small words, understand time, and become more independent. In addition, plenty of time to answer all those questions and lots of hands on activities are key parts of each day. As always, we recognize that children also need physical stimulation and active time is scheduled into each day. Below is what a typical day in our four year old classroom looks like.

Childcare Philosophy:

Agora’s Little Gems Early Learning and Childcare is devoted to the quality care and nurturing of children. We believe (and statistics show) that early childhood education plays a large role in preparing children for kindergarten and starting them out on the right foot. Most importantly, our Christ-centered curriculum teaches children about the Bible and shares the love that Jesus has for them. We know from Scripture that little children have a special place in God’s heart. If we seek to become more like Christ, they must have a special place in our hearts as well. At Agora’s Little Gems Early Learning and Childcare your child will be surrounded by a loving staff that is committed to seeing your child grow and learn. Each day, your child will be encouraged to refine developmentally appropriate skills, explore creativity and imagination, become more independent, and learn to help and serve one another.
