State Licensed Early Child Care

YMCA Educare Centers
Full-Day Infant-Preschool
     The YMCA of Central Ohio proudly offers full-day infant-through-preschool child care at three Educare Centers in Columbus. Our Educare Centers are licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Children in our Educare programs are cared for in a warm, caring and safe environment. Staff are well trained in early childhood education and follow age-appropriate lesson plans that are designed to stimulate childrens' minds as well as provide a fun and creative day for your child.

Preschool
AGES 3-5
     The YMCA of Central Ohio offers State Licensed Preschool programs in 4 YMCA branches. Our preschool programs also follow an educational enriching curriculum that focuses on kindergarten readiness, character development, health and fitness, diversity and values education. Swim time is available at some locations. YMCA Preschool is a great way for your child to interact with other children and gain the social skills they will need as they grow and mature into school-agers.

State Licensed School-Age Child Care

Before/After - School Care
AGES 5/6-12
     The YMCA of Central Ohio offers state-licensed before and/or after-school care at over 50 locations throughout Central Ohio. While our programs allow for activity choice, they provide an educationally based curriculum which includes homework assistance and a fitness component.

School Days Off
AGES 5/6-12
     The YMCA is committed to Central Ohio communities. During the school year, there are many occasions for schools to close, such as parent/teacher conference days, single day holidays and longer holiday breaks. On these days, the YMCA offers full-day child care, "School Days Off," from 7 am-6 pm at select branches. Pre-registration for School Days Off may be necessary.

Emergency Weather Days
AGES 5/6-12
     The YMCA of Central Ohio is committed to ensuring Central Ohio families with safe, accessible child care options when schools close due to weather emergencies when possible. Select YMCA branches offer full-day child care for school-agers during most weather emergency situations. Please call ahead on emergency weather days to check if the program is able to operate. Pre-registration for School Days Off may be necessary.

Food Program & Y-Kids Are Fit

Child and Adult Care Food Program

     The YMCA is proud to participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The goal of this program is to increase the YMCA's ability to meet the nutritional needs of children in our care by getting reimbursed for meals and snacks that meet CACFP requirements. In addition, we promote understanding of the role of nutrition in the physical, mental and social health of children and help develop positive food attitudes and eating behaviors.

Y-Kids Are Fit
Moving Kids Towards a Healthy Lifestyle
     The YMCA of Central Ohio contracts with schools & organizations to provide the Y-Kids Are Fit curriculum or programs can opt to have their own staff implement the curriculum.
     Y-Kids Are Fit gives children the opportunity to participate in regular physical activity and to learn about healthy choices is what Y-Kids are Fit is all about. The focus of the program is on fitness, health and nutrition.

Swim, Sports & Play Programs

     The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. And the benefits are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes from learning to swim or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out.

Youth Water Activities

Swim Lessons
     Learning to swim at the YMCA is more than just stroke development. Children are taught in small groups with others of their own age and skill level to facilitate the students' socialization skills.

Swim Team
     The SEO/WV YMCA League is a competitive swim league consisting of 22 teams and approximately 1,700 swimmers from Southeast Ohio and West Virginia.

     The YMCA offers a plethera of education courses such as American Red Cross training, CPR & AED, and First Aid.

Camp Programs

     YMCA camps share one thing: they’re about discovery. Kids have the opportunity to explore nature, discover new talents, try new activities, gain independence, and build lasting friendships and memories. And, of course, it’s fun!

Summer Day Camp
GRADES 1-6
     Summer just wouldn't be the same without the excitement and adventure of a YMCA Day Camp. For over 30 years, central Ohio children have come together for a summer full of nature, water fun, games, cookouts, arts & crafts and new friendships!
     A wide variety of programs are offered for children grades 1 through 10, with special programs designed just for teens. Traditional, Sports and Specialty Camps are available. Camp runs June through August of each year. Several camps are accredited by the American Camping Association. Membership Assistance is available. Pick up a current Camp Guide at you branch Resource Center or download it below.

Overnight Summer Camp
YMCA CAMP WILLSON
     Enjoy the best that summer has to offer with swimming, boating, archery, campfires, food, singing, sports, nature, camp-outs, and much more at Camp Willson – the YMCA's premier resident camp.
     Serving children since 1918, Camp Willson is located just one hour northwest of Columbus in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Perfect for children ages 7 through 17 offering Traditional, Horseback, Specialty and Teen Camps. Family Camps, Men's/Women's Weekends, Horselovers and Teen Weekends are also available throughout the year. The Willson Outdoor Center is proud to be accredited by both the American Camping Association and the Certified Horsemanship Association.

Camp Can Do
Camp for Children with Special Needs
     With Camp Can Do, the YMCA and the Early Childhood Resource Network+ (ECRN+) extend the opportunity to enjoy and participate in nature to our young special-needs population. Running concurrently with YMCA Day Camp at three local YMCA branches, Camp Can Do is a special summer day camp for children and young adults with moderate to intensive special needs, ages 6 through 21 years. Camp activities are tailored to the unique needs of these kids, and staff of counselors at each site consist of teachers from our local school districts experienced in working with children who have special needs.

TeenXtreme
A whole catalogue of exciting activities designed especially for 7th–9th graders
     Every day of your week brings a new and different adventure, and each of the four TeenXtreme locations has its own palette of activities to choose from. One day you could be making jewelry and playing in a basketball tournament; the next you might find yourself on a trail in the woods, cooking up a gourmet lunch outdoors, or swimming under twenty feet of water with SCUBA gear.

Introduction/Description:

     We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around the nation are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
